As Dusk Falls
- A Vampire The Masquerade Larp

With the Second Inquisition burning kindred across the globe and hunters mustering on the borders of multiple American cities, the Camarilla sets a desperate plan in motion. Determined to draw a line in the sand, the sect’s luminaries summon you to choose the fate and future of the Ivory Tower. You must decide who lives and who dies, knowing what it could mean for your city, your family, and those with whom you share your nights. You thought you had an eternity together, but as dusk falls, this may be your last goodbye.

The Larp and Experience

As Dusk Falls is a larp about personal conflicts that come from the Traditions of the Camarilla, city politics, your family, and your vampiric drives.

In our setting, the Second Inquisition has steadily been taking over North America, killing scores of kindred, and is poised to launch a major offensive against multiple cities. They have pushed the Camarilla to its breaking point. And the luminaries of the sect know that if they do not take a stand, all will be lost. Making life-and-death decisions and taking responsibility for those choices will be a crucial part of the experience.

We aim to create a personal, unique larp set in the modern-day V5 setting, which deals with many core themes from this edition. We intend to highlight the tension between humanity and the beast, hard choices, fighting overwhelming odds, being a sensual and powerful supernatural, and the double-edged sword of blood.

We want to reclaim Vampire: the Masquerade as a good, safe, and engaging setting to tell powerful and collaborative stories as well as make the larp accessible and entertaining for both new and experienced vampire players. We intend to accomplish this with easy rules, a setting that features story rather than it being a barrier to overcome, high player agency, and character choices that matter.

And we hope you will join us into the night.

The minimum age to participate will be 21 years.

We grew up loving Vampire the Masquerade as a setting to tell incredible stories. We believe it is a unique canvas to explore themes of morality, corruption, the human condition, salvation, romance, politics, and personal horror.

We acknowledge the World of Darkness has problematic portrayals and stereotypes that still need solving in the latest edition and that other groups in the larp community have had issues with safe and consensual games using this setting.

Yet, we know that we can jointly tell impactful, memorable, and safe stories with the right mix of design, responsible players, high consent mechanics and safeguards, and a rules-light approach.

We believe the best way to do this is by creating a curated space with prescreened participants while still applying our usual safety mechanics of flagging, consent-based storytelling, and check-in system. Because of this, we've decided to initially only open this event for existing Journeys & Tales customers, collaboration partners, partners of Rachel J. Wilkinson, and other select invitees.
Should we not meet our intended number of participants after our initial offer, we may open up to other screened players.

J&T will certainly run other games open to everyone, just as we have in the past. However, for this setting, we believe a curated invite list is the best way to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for our players, staff, and designers.
